Magnetic Therapy Magnetic magnetized water and magnetic therapy?
Is there such a thing as magnetized water which is better and healthier than ordinary drinking water? and do magnets really make us more healthy, like reducing muscle pains, yields a sound sleep etc?
Magnetic "therapy" is salesmanship at its best. They've actually convinced many gullible people that placing magnets on injuries helps them heal faster by way of drawing more blood into the area. They've further convinced many people that the Earth's magnetic field is diminishing (some even state that this is because of all the concrete and buildings that we stupid humans are putting up all the time). Now they state that magnets can raise the pH of water to the point of killing cancer cells. Soon, I'm sure, we'll hear about how magnets treat baldness, arthritis (oh! Wait! They've already gone there!), zits, long nose hairs, and belly button lint.
There was a material being heavilly touted in the eighteenth century that supposedly cured all that ails you, and we use it in reference to quack medicine: Snake Oil.
The truth is that the Earth's magnetic field has not diminished. A compass still points North in response to it--even smack dab in the middle of the streets of New York. So much for the idea that our buildings and structures are doing damage to the Earth's magnetic fields! And the crap about increasing blood flow? False: Blood's not magnetic. If it were, we'd never be able to recieve an MRI. And a pool of blood doesn't roll North. And the pH of water? Copied from waterontheweb.org:
The pH of a sample of water is a measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions. The term pH was derived from the manner in which the hydrogen ion concentration is calculated - it is the negative logarithm of the hydrogen ion (H+) concentration. What this means to those of us who are not mathematicians is that at higher pH, there are fewer free hydrogen ions, and that a change of one pH unit reflects a tenfold change in the concentrations of the hydrogen ion. For example, there are 10 times as many hydrogen ions available at a pH of 7 than at a pH of 8. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14. A pH of 7 is considered to be neutral. Substances with pH of less that 7 are acidic; substances with pH greater than 7 are basic.
Hydrogen isn't magnetic, nor can magnetism create or reduce it. And, by the way, the pH of water has nothing to do with cancer.
Education saves money. And lives.

There is some German scientist who is described as the “scourge of alternative medicine” who is very skeptical about all of this stuff. he says that only about five percent of complementary medicine works and the rest is at best unproven. He was trained as a homeopathic medical practitioner, as well as a doctor, but appears to have rejected that.
I don't know what he would make of magnetic therapy, but whatever he thinks, we are entitled to make up our own minds. I worked for a company that was in another field of complementary medicine, so i know how closed-minded some mainstream scientists and doctors can be.
