Mattress Pad Waterproof
Serious question about CRIB SHEETS?
I'm a young first time soon-to-be mom. All these different sheets and pads are confusing me as to how to set everything up. When we put the mattress in the crib do I put on one fitted sheet or two? Does something go on the mattress before the fitted sheet/s? After the fitted sheet what goes on next? Is it the waterproof mattress pad? If so one or two? Next should I put down a regular sheet and blankets to follow? I know initially I cant' have pillows or toys in his crib. Also does the crib bumper go in last or first? Thank you ever so much to anyone who can clear this silly thing up for me. I just need to know how the sheets and pads along w/ the mattress go down into the crib, like in what order lol. I appreciate your help very much!

Do people call the fitted sheet the crib sheet?
You put the water proof mattress pad on first followed by the sheet. There should be nothing else in the crib. Dress your baby warm but do not use a blanket or the bumper. When your baby starts to roll around in it's sleep it may roll up against the side of the crib and if the bumper is there it won't be able to breath and also doesn't know yet to just move away. As your baby squirms it may bunch the blanket up over it's mouth and nose once again causing it not to be able to breath. This is mostly a problem with the thick comforter blankets that come with crib sets. If you want to use a thin blanket that's fine. Just drape the blanket over the baby from the waist down so the chances of it ending up over the head are slim.

Are crib mattress pads safe??
All I read is that a very firm mattress is best for baby. I got a really good matress, and just recieved a waterproof matress pad, Sealy brand for my shower. Now is this safe to use?? Won't it add padding to the mattress which is supposed to be bad?? Just wondering
As long as everything is pulled as tight as possible, yes.
It adds such a minimal amount of extra padding, it really won't make a difference.
