Mattress Topper Cover Mattress/sheets don't breathe! What can I do?
I have a relitively nice mattress that has a a dust/allergen cover on it for protection. The top layer of the mattress is memory foam (which doesn't seem to breath very well either). When I sleep, whatever part of my body that's in contact with the mattress gets hot and sweaty! Is there a reasonably cheap kind of buffer or topper I could use to let some air circulate below me? I've thought about something like an egg crate topper, but I'm pretty sure those don't breathe at all.

Feather topper feathers poke through sheets !?
My boyfriend and I have a feather topper on our mattress and the stems of the feathers poke through our sheets and can really scratch you, I have tried putting my mattress cover over it but it flattens the topper out, is there anything I can lay over my topper to prevent this that wont flatten it out and lose the effect of the plush topper ? Something that will cut down on the number of feathers getting through the sheets ?
Get a thin cotton duvet cover or even better sew 2 sheets together to encase it. You want to look for sheets with a 350 count or better. Any sheets will do, you won't see them under the regular sheet. Wait for January white sales!
Those toppers are pricey. I would complain to the manufacturer.
Your topper should not be doing that.
Covering the topper will allow you to wash your crafted liner - so in the end it's not a bad plan. Washing Feather liners is a no no (sort of) and if you have no protection from the sheet to the liner - well read this.
***You can wash them on gentle with tennis balls to break up the clumps . Drying, fluffing, drying it more, refluffing, can take an entire day.. And if they leak like yours does you will have a huge feather mess. Not to mention if you put it back on the bed when it isn't totally dry will cause the feathers to mold.
In any case put it in the dryer at least once a month to dry it through, kill germs and refluff it.
