I got a memory foam mattress a while ago and I have slept better than I ever did with a conventional mattress.
Now, while I am sure I can't imagine exactly what it's like to be pregnant, I was, shall we say, carrying around my own little “baby” at about this time last year. About 30 or so extra pounds worth. I was finding it becoming uncomfortable to sleep – I would often roll onto my stomach in the middle of the night, and actually started getting back pain as a result of that position.
The memory foam mattress, especially with the extra weight, was FAR more comfortable. It basically contours to whatever shape you are creating for it, while still providing firm support. You might want to check one out…
I've managed to get rid of that “baby” since then, of course, but I still love the mattress…
Let me tell you that a temper-pedic bed on a good day isn't so wonderful. for a king size bed it is way more than $2000 and I find it to be like sleeping on a board. "memory" bed, the only memory it has is how to give you pain. I guess it's a good bed if you like hard beds, of which I do not. This bed is in my second home. In my bed in the city I have a Duxiana bed, so as you can see I go for the light springy beds that give with your body, not the hard beds. As the temperdedic is a patented formulation I don't think that any of the cheaper versions are going to have what the temperdic offers, if this is in fact the kind of bed that you do find comfortable. Yes, it is exensive, but it will last for years and years and you do get what you pay for. There are certain things where you don't go for the cheap and that is in beds, it's your back we are talking about, don't get a knock off, or you will be at the doctor so often that it will make up for the difference in price between the beds.
