Waterproof Premium
Silicone in fish tanks?
I bought "Premium Waterproof Silicone: Window/Door/Attic/Basement 100% Silicone". My research thus far had said that it's safe, as long as it's 100% silicone, without anything mold or mildew resistant. However, now that I take a closer look at the bottle, on the back it reads "Not for use below the water line, where FDA compliance is necessary, or aquariums." (despite the fact that it is "permanently waterproof". ) What do you guys think? Is this just something they say to cover their backsides?
it says it is "rain ready" in three hours. I was going to let it cure for 6. Will this be ok? It's not for building a whole tank, just for some decorations.
It is a liability thing.
Read carefully and make sure the only ingredient is 100% silicone.
Make sure the silicone is properly cured and set before adding water (a few days). Rinsing is not a bad idea either.
I haven't used the one you have. Mine are usually for kitchen/bath, and by DAP or GE, but they have the same warning.
