Memory Foam Futon Bed
Can you use just a memory foam to sleep on (no bed, no mattress) for a day or two?
Will it be painful or comfortable?
I will be living in a small apartment. I need something in which my guests (say, a couple) can sleep on for a day or two. I need to be able to fold it to a very small size and put away. I do not have a lot of storage space so the folding beds are not an option. I might go for a futon but would prefer not buying a large furniture. Any suggestions?
Two inches is pretty much the thickness for a mattress topper made of memory foam. That will not get the job done. You will bottom out and feel the floor.

Beds that are best for your back?
I don't know which firm mattress to buy (or orthopedic mattress as they are sometimes called). I don't like the memory foam and don't like soft beds much.
A decent firm pocket sprung or latex is at least £700
but a futon mattress is only £130.....
IS A FUTON GOING TO BE AS GOOD FOR MY BACK AS
A LATEX OR POCKET SPRUNG BED? Thank you 
I used to have terrible problems with my back. First thing in the morning was worst, trying to step into my clothes was a right carry on as each movement made me oooh and aaaah.
Then in 2007 I bought a 2000 pocket sprung mattress and you would not believe the difference. It is only a medium firmness but it has been the best buy ever.
It wasn't even the dearest mattress. I went online and found this one on www.bedworld.net/beds_mattresses
It is a Millbrook 2000 Pocket Divine mattress and in 2007 cost £334.
A futon mattress costing £130 is just throwing your money away and you'll still have a sore back.

I think a futon is a great idea. It is easy, convenient, and saves space. There is one thing however that makes a futon great and it is that you can't just go buy a cheap one. You really need one that has a sturdy frame and a good mattress on it. The ones from Walmart are cheap and will not last at all, and have a mattress that is way to soft to have a good night sleep on.
1300 for a mattress is outrageous; unless someone famous slept on it. Foam memory mattresses arent cheaper or as cheap as a standard mattress;like most tv commercials would have u believe. a memory mattress is actually more expensive. if you paid 1300 and it was an overstock you got screwed. you couldve bought a brand new one for that much. now if your wanting save money and have a better quality sleep then a standard mattress is the way to go.
when it comes to your back you dont want a soft cushy mattress you want firm.
That sounds like a good deal to me. Memory foam is sooooooo super wonderful, you'll love it!
