Anyone have a memory foam mattress - Whats your experience?
3inches of visco foam....4 inches, 5 inches I dunno... Simmons has a back pain mattress that really appeals to me just because of the name but I am also curious how everyone likes these memory foam mattresses
Gosh this internet drives me crazy... back in the day you didn't have all these choices and if you got ripped of you never knew it. The local store wants 600 bucks but I found them for like 350 on amazon.com...Do you get what you pay for or am I just paying for the overhead at the local store??

I love it. I have a 4" foam mattress and a 3" pad to go with it. My sleep is much improved as the mattress is much softer than the ordinary kind. The only thing I didn't like was the memory foam pillow. It felt like a rock. I could never feel comfortable with it. Maybe I didn't use it correctly. I recommend the mattress but not the pillow.

Can you wash a visco-elastic memory foam matress topper?
If you can, how?
You can wash it in warm water with a small amount of mild laundry detergent in the bath tub and then hang to dry. Even if it is small enough to fit in a dryer you need to be very careful and not use heat or it may melt or catch fire.
If it was urinated on then first you should absorb any wet urine with towels and saturate the area with Nature's Miracle (from a pet supply store like Petco) and let that dry. Then wash it as described, if you still think it needs to be washed.

We bought a new mattress that turned out to be too firm, so we went to Sam’s and got a 3-inch memory foam topper. That did the trick. It’s hard to sleep on a regular mattress now. And instead of flipping the mattress, we just flip the topper, which is much easier.
My guess is that they are good. I have a memory foam pillow and I absolutely love it.
A hospital I have surgery in, I've had back surgery eight times, went over to these mattresses and, I couldn't sleep on them, they had to find a room with the old style mattresses.
That;s how I felt every time the mattress would settle down, entrapped, like I was going to fall through.
Forgot to mention memory foam for sleeping. We went to Clarke Rubber and had a piece of memory foam cut to about 40cm by 50cm. I think it only came in the one thickness (5cm perhaps?) and looked a little thick at first but it has proven to be perfect. Our little girl uses this as a pillow to keep her back, neck and head elevated in line with the edge of the cast. We just line the long edge up with the edge of her cast so that she is then fairly level. It is nice and soft but still supportive and she sleeps so much better with the memory foam than with anything else we tried.
