HONEST opinions on TEMPUR PEDIC beds?? And where can I get a cheap queen size one in CANADA................?

I have severe lower back and neck problems since a recent car accident and people tell me these beds are GREAT however I don't know anyone that actually has one!!!!

I do not own one of these; however, my husband and I *just* got a new mattress set in the last month and the Tempur Pedic model was one of our final choices. After much research, I opted against it.
It seems that there are 3 common complaints about the mattress:
1. The smell: even Tempur Pedic acknowledges that their new mattresses have some sort of "smell" from the manufacturing process, but they say it goes away after a week of airing it out. Some consumers disagree...some even alleging that they have gotten sick from the smell.
2. The heat: Apparently, the foam that is used to make these mattresses retains heat too well, and MANY, MANY, MANY people (almost all of them) complained of getting very hot at night. NOW, Tempur-Pedic *somewhat* acknowledged that heat was a problem with their mattresses, and they've introduced a new line called "Rhapsady" that supposedly addresses this issue with a different ticking/cover. I don't know how well it works, but we seriously considered the Rhapsody line.
3. Numerous people complained that the mattress simply didn't provide the same support after 2-3 years. Some even claimed that their aches became WORSE after using the Tempur Pedic for an extended period of time. This was the deal-breaker for me and my husband. It's bad enough to pay $1000 for a mattress set and have it sag after 2 years. I can't imagine how angry I'd be if I paid $3000 for a mattress set and it died on my before 10 years. Granted, the mattress supposedly has like a 20 year warranty, but people complain that Tempur Pedic is unresponsive to warranty issues.
Now, to be fair, my next door neighbors bought the Tempur Pedic "Celebrity" line two years ago, and they both say they LOVE it. I also own a Tempur-Pedic foam pillow that has NO smell, and I really like it, as well as, a memory foam topper from our old bed that we had for about two years with no problems.
All-in-all, it was way too much risk for the cost. We chose to weigh the experiences of many, and opted not to buy the memory foam.
We wound up with a Simmons Beautyrest World-Class model (there are many under that brand), but our mattress has 13.25 gauge coils across the ENTIRE mattress, not just the edges like most of the Beautyrest mattresses. Most mattresses seem to have 15 gauge coils. The ticking is wonderful. Ours is a luxury firm with visco and latex foams in the topper, so it has a slight give, but not to mushy. We got it on sale for $1500. Who knows how well it will behave over the long-term? The mattress market is such a racket.
