My husband stayed at an inn where they had featherbeds. He raved about how comfortable they were so I bought one. Unfortunately, he can't remember the details of how the bed was made and the sales person couldn't tell me anything either. Does the featherbed go on top of the fitted sheet or under it? If it goes on top, does the featherbed need some kind of cover since the person would be sleeping directly on top of it? Thank-you for your help!
When using a featherbed topper, you should ideally place it on top of the mattress and underneath the mattress cover but under the fitted sheet.
Although some people place it on top of the fitted sheet and use a duvet cover, you will soon find your frustration building, as it will constantly move around all over the bed, since there is nothing holding it down. In fact, you may find it on the floor come morning.
If your mattress cover is not a large one for a thick mattress, then you should place the feather topper directly on top of the mattress cover but still underneath the fitted sheet. If your mattess cover is too tight a fit, it will squish the feathers too much and you will lose the comfort of having a feather topper!

Concierge Collection Lumbar Support 4 Featherbed - Twin
Do you lay on top of or under a featherbed...or both?
Friends of ours went to Germany and said that they were told to sleep under the featherbed. In the US people tend to sleep on top of them.
Do most people sleep on top of it or under it or both. Sleep under in the winter (with a duvet cover) and on top of in the summer (under the fitted sheet and mattress pad)?
I know featherbeds are heavy and it struck me weird that they would sleep under them in Germany but I guess it gets really cold. My friend thought it was odd too.
I would sleep on top of a feather bed and under a down comforter..
That is a terrific price for sure. I do not like the channel style of down beds or comforters. You have to shake the devil outta them the get them back to like new fluffiness. The bunching is normal, and you do have to shake them hard and each time you change sheets…..or every week.
