King Top Pillowtop
Why do bed sheet manufacturers only make deep pocket fitted bedsheets these days?
I do not have a pillow-top mattress, but I do have a nice California King sized mattress. The new fitted sheets have deeper pockets to fit the pillowtop mattresses, but I don't have a pillowtop mattress, so these "fitted" sheets don't work for me and aren't fitted at all. Do they still make the original pockets or am I stuck with a wrinkled bed the rest of my life? Thanks friends.
Both standard and deep pocket fitted sheets are widely available. Your best bet might be to visit an upscale department store where you can get the help of a knowledgable sales person. Stores like WalMart may only carry one type of sheet for your kind of bed and it will be the sheet set that sells the most units, in your case, pillowtop deep pocket sheets.
You might also take a look at the selections available at Amazon.com. They have an extensive selection of sheets and other bedding.

Confused by new mattress types/classifications?
Finally getting around to replacing our 13 year old mattress (yikes!) which was a wedding gift, so I've never actually had to shop for a mattress and I'm finding it very confusing, despite reading the latest Consumer Reports article.
What is the difference between pillowtop, plush and eurotop? I though 'firm' was about the whole mattress but apparently it applies to the top too? Does anything over 670+ coils in a King mattress really make a difference? Is there any way to compare apples to apples when the big names seem to change their models for every store?? I don't want to get taken for a ride and spend thousands more than I have to or need to.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

This site has a fantastic article about mattress's. Well worth reading. My favorite tip being to spend 15 minutes on a mattress in the store, 5 on your back, and 5 on each side to determine if it's really comfortable for you, or not.
