Memory Foam Body Pillows Why is my memory foam mattress causing upper back pain?
We got our memory foam mattress yesterday. I laid on them several times at the store, and I was expecting a wonderful night's rest. I woke up several times in the night with my neck and upper back hurting. This morning my neck, upper back, and shoulder (the side I sleep on) were all hurting. Could it be because I am heavier around the middle? The mattress seemed to sink in more around the middle leaving the upper part of my body higher than the rest of my body. Is there anything I can do to correct this? I tried three different pillows in the night, and at one point I tried using no pillow at all. I got no relief.
I hate to put this note below for those of you who would really like to help people, but I have had a rash of ridiculous answers lately.

Most memory foam mattresses require a "break-in" time. You can help the process along by running up and down the mattress. This help open up the memory cells and make the mattress more comfortable and fexible. Give it at least 2 weeks.

Would you like to hear some things I found for sleeping-not drugs?
You know that my chronic pain prevents me from sleeping or doing anything for long peroids. However, my helper and I found a couple of things that have made a big difference. She found this thick-thick memory foam pad for the bed and a mattress cover came with it. The cost on sale was $100. I found a gel body pillow on sale for $50.00 and these two things together have helped extremely. We are always searching to help one another on this site, just thought you could use this information. Did you want to hear things found to help sleep and do you have suggestions to help us with our chronic pain?

my dog just had both his back knees replaced. I was pissed when it was so damn expensive, but we now call him the “5 thousand dollar dog” He's a few months out from the surgeries (one happened while recovering from the other, he favored his “good” leg too much and blew out his acl) i got a “discount” the second time, i “saved” $1000 on the second surgery cause i had just been in there a few weeks ago. Hes up and running again, i just cant run him on sand or anything to be safe
