Memory Foam Couch Cushion
Pee on the couch? Can you wash foam?
Our daughter had an accident on the couch...a big one. You can tell it got into the actual cushions. Is there a way to out right was foam?
I was thinking about just taking off the cotton, and replacing it with memory foam from walmart? Good idea?

Any ideas? I have a steam cleaner but the cushion is so thick I'm worried it won't get it all out.
It won't hurt a thing to spray a little cleaner in it and run plenty of water into it with a garden hose. I do that to mine about once a year in the spring because we use wood heat and the smell get's into the foam. After it drains a bit (it will be very heavy) stand it on it's end and it'll dry out in about a day.

I'm asking in the parenting section because I'm sure parents have experience with cleaning up accidents. Thanks!
If you have a Joann Etc or other sewing/craft store, you might be able to buy replacement foam.
But I would give cleaning the foam a shot, first. You could use an enzymatic product typically used for pets. (Nature's Miracle, avail at Pet Smart or Petco - or Bean Kleen Products, avail online) Do your work in a tub or shower. I would squish the cleaner in really well. Let it soak for an hour or so, to do it's enzymatic, odor-killing thing. Then squeeze and press the foam to get as much of the moisture out. (Use several towels to help blot/wick the moisture out, replacing with dry ones as they get soaked) If you have a box fan, set the foam in front of that to help it dry faster. You could balance the foam over the top of a laundry basket so you can dry both sides at once. Do the same with the fabric cover and the polyester batting that surrounded the foam. If you dry it all separately, it will dry quicker.

Please note that you want to use an enzymatic cleaner, like the ones I listed. Enzymatic cleaners actually "eat" the bacteria that causes the odor - not just cover it up or neutralize it.
If you do not destroy the bacteria that cause the odor, you will have trouble a few days to a few weeks later, when the smell comes back.
Avoid acidic products (vinegar, lemon juice) as they can actually destroy the foam.
Between my 4 kids and the many naughty cats and dogs I have had, I have literally tried almost every suggestion out there and can tell you exactly what works or what goes wrong with the suggestions that don't work. Feel free to email me for a more detailed list.

We bought a new mattress that turned out to be too firm, so we went to Sam’s and got a 3-inch memory foam topper. That did the trick. It’s hard to sleep on a regular mattress now. And instead of flipping the mattress, we just flip the topper, which is much easier.
A hospital I have surgery in, I've had back surgery eight times, went over to these mattresses and, I couldn't sleep on them, they had to find a room with the old style mattresses.
